Vale Peter 'percy' Philpott
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)
—Speaker, Today I am honoured to speak on the incredible life of Peter 'Percy' Philpott, a Neutral Bay local, who passed away at the age of 86 after a long battle with illness. Percy was a Former Test cricketer and life member of NSW Cricket and the Manly Warringah Cricket Club. For the Manly Warringah Cricket Club, he scored 5535 runs and 499 wickets. He also played in eight test matches, where he scored a five-fer in an opening Ashes Test. Percy had a love of mentoring as he spent time coaching NSW, South Australia, Mosman, and many other cricket clubs. In addition to his illustrious cricketing career, Percy also spent 50 years teaching and passing on his knowledge. Tributes flowed from the cricket community after hearing of the tragic news. His passion for the sport, his mentorship and his friendship were all recognised by those closest to him. I extend my sincerest condolences to his family and to the Manly Warringah Cricket Club.
