Redlands Primary School Debating
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)
—Speaker I want to congratulate the Redlands Year 6 Debating team for reaching the semi-finals of this year's National Independent Schools Virtual Debating competition. They are competing in the Primary School division, which features 32 teams from around the country. The debating team completed an undefeated start to the competition, notching two wins from their first two debates. They successfully debated 'cyclists should have to pay a registration fee to use the roads' and 'domestic cats should not be banned from Australia'. Reaching the semi-finals is a fantastic achievement. This team has demonstrated exceptional debating skills. I commend the Head of Junior School, Ari Guha, and all the teachers involved for supporting our young people's debating endeavours. I congratulate all the Year 6 Debating team students for taking the floor and showcasing their debating skills in this competition. I wish them the best of luck as they move into the competition's semi-finals, and also as they prepare for starting High School next year.
