Mosman Girl Guides Centenary Milestone

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker I congratulate the Mosman Girl Guides for reaching a significant milestone in August 2021, their 100-year centenary. They were unable to celebrate the event due to COVID lockdown restrictions in place at the time and instead are celebrating in December. Mosman Girl Guides are a strong community of Brownies, girls aged 6 - 10, and Guides aged 10 - 14, looking to learn new skills, make new friends, and become more community-minded. The group comprises parent volunteers who meet regularly to discuss and collaborate on ideas for best supporting the Guides with their endeavours. Throughout the 100 years of operation, the Mosman Girl Guides have been partaking in a range of activities such as weekly meetings, outdoor adventures, themed programs, unit camps, community events, and interconnected days with other guide groups. The guiding experience is still very relevant to this day. It provides the opportunity for young girls to learn and interact with others in a safe and comfortable environment whilst being themselves. I congratulate Martine Robbins, District Manager and commend the Girl Guides for their commitment to empowering girls and young women to discover their full potential as leaders in the world.
