Book Week

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore) (12:58:04):

"Reading is magic" has never been a more fitting theme for Book Week. Every year we see students embracing the power of reading and expressing their creative nature in their Book Week parades. This year I was excited to take part in numerous Book Week parades across my community. I was blown away by the amount of time, effort and skill that students, teachers and parents poured into all of the amazing costumes. Book Week marks the annual celebration of books for young people, and the joy of reading. It was heartening to see so many students in my community embracing the magic of reading. I saw many beloved classic characters brought to life, along with some that were new to me. I myself embraced Book Week and attended as a witch from Hogwarts, although my Ravenclaw robes looked a little green. I also went as the Mad Hatter and Cruella de Vil. I thank Shore School, Blessed Sacrament, St Aloysius' College Junior School, Neutral Bay Public School and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School for letting me join in and witness their Book Week parades. I congratulate all of the children on their beautiful costumes, and encourage their love of reading. I also recognise the many parents who, I am sure, were behind the scenes with a hot glue gun and scissors late into the night.
