Indigenous Art Exhibition at Coal Loader

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Indigenous Art Exhibition at Coal Loader I want to acknowledge the passion and dedication of the artists whose work was featured at the Indigenous art exhibition at the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability in Waverton. The exhibition, Keep the Fire Burning, showcased a collection of works by Indigenous artists who have a connection to Cammeraygal country. The collection of artworks explores the transformative and enduring power of fire and is a call to preserve and pass on generational knowledge and stories. I thank North Sydney Council for supporting local artists in such a tangible way, and I congratulate the North Sydney Council team on the work they put into organising the exhibition. Supporting artists is a powerful way to support the diverse cultural richness that makes the North Shore community so vibrant. It is also great to see the Coal Loader being used as a venue for such community-focused events. I congratulate the nine artists; Amanda Jane Reynolds, Dr Virginia Keft, Kieran Satour, Lucy Simpson, Courtney Marsh-Currie, Nathan Mudyi Sentance, Dr Emma Hicks, Amethyst Downing-McLeod and Jodie Dowd.
