Ella Havelka's First Nations Theatre and Dance Program

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker I want to recognise the incredible achievements of Cremorne local Ella Havelka. Ella has already made history as the first Indigenous dancer to join the Australian ballet. Now, she continues to break new ground as she spearheads a trailblazing First Nations theatre and dance program set to take place next year. Ella is an acclaimed dancer and choreographer who is harnessing her talents to launch Deadly 2025, a weeklong celebration of performance designed to amplify First Nations voices. The festival will be hosted by Short+Sweet, a global festival brand that presents highly successful theatre, dance, music, and film festivals around the world. I wholeheartedly congratulate Ella, whose talent and admirable dedication have propelled her to the forefront in her field of dance and choreography. It is so exciting to see the passion that has been poured into this project, and I have no doubt the festival will be a resounding success. I congratulate Ella on this profound achievement, and I wish her every success in future.
