St Aloysius Model Solar Challenge

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—I want to acknowledge the efforts of two St Aloysius College students who have excelled in their extra-curricular interests. In December last year, two year 10 students from Aloysius were invited to compete in the Australian International Model Solar Challenge; a fantastic opportunity for both boys. Luca and Timothy attended the event at the University of New South Wales after having finished fifth at the annual Sunsprint Solar Car Competition in October last year. The Australian International Model Solar Challenge hosts the best solar cars from high school teams from around Australia and across the world. Luca and Timothy qualified for the final rounds, where unfortunately their car proved a little too fast in direct sunlight, and took flight on the last turn of the 100m track, crashing into the team from Taiwan. Although the boys did not place, I want to congratulate them both on their commendable efforts and outstanding achievement in qualifying for such a prestigious competition. I look forward to seeing what they achieve in future.
