North Shore Electorate Emergency Services
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore) (18:18:07):
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated local volunteers of Marine Rescue Middle Harbour, Surf Life Saving NSW and our emergency services for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of our communities during the recent Easter holidays. Despite challenging conditions, including hazardous surf and large crowds, their vigilance and professionalism were paramount in preventing further tragedies. In the North Shore electorate, the presence of trained lifesavers and Marine Rescue volunteers provided a critical safety net. Their proactive measures and rapid response times were instrumental in managing the increased risks. One tragic incident occurred on Friday 18 April 2025, when emergency services were called to Middle Head point to check on the welfare of a man in the water. Officers from the North Shore Police Area Command, with assistance from Surf Life Saving NSW, Marine Rescue, NSWÂ Ambulance paramedics and Marine Area Command, commenced an operation to locate the man, who was sadly located nearby in the water. The man was on the rocks when he fell into the water. I commend all the organisations and volunteers involved and offer special thanks for their dedication and service during difficult times while performing a difficult service for the community.
