Welcoming Warada: Safe Birth Support

—I congratulate Warada Birth Education and Family Support on its official launch on Tuesday 22 July 2025 – a powerful step forward in providing culturally safe, respectful, and evidence-based care for First Nations expectant parents. Founded by Brooke Toli, Warada was born from a vision to walk alongside pregnant individuals and their families, offering connection, confidence, and care throughout the journey of pregnancy, birth and early parenting. The free, eight-week program covers vital topics such as labour, pain relief, breastfeeding, newborn care, and cultural traditions – ensuring every participant feels seen, supported, and informed. The service is open to those between 12-24 weeks gestation with low to moderate risk pregnancies, and accepts referrals from GPs, hospitals, Aboriginal health workers, community centres and self-referral. Special thanks to Brooke for her leadership, and to Aunty Lyn Hartley, Wilbung Morgan, Anissa Jones and Tracey Bryan for their wisdom and dedication. Thank you to Brooke for including me and the Shadow Minister for Western Sydney in the launch. A heartfelt highlight was the beautiful opening remarks from Year 9 student Charlotte Bryan of Caroline Chisholm College. Warada is more than a program – it's a true gift to expectant mothers.
