Marcelle Cooper is North Shore Volunteer of the Year 2025

—My sincere congratulations to Marcelle Cooper for being named the North Shore Volunteer of the Year as part of the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, for her work with the Gidget Foundation. Marcelle was chosen as this year's overall winner across all North Shore volunteers for her work with the Gidget Foundation in raising awareness about those suffering with perinatal depression and anxiety [PNDA]. PNDA is a treatable mental health condition. It affects around 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers, impacting almost 100,000 parents in Australia each year. The Gidget Foundation is headquartered in North Sydney and I cannot praise Marcelle enough for her commitment to easing the pain of families suffering with PNDA. Well done to Marcelle and the Gidget Foundation. The awards are hosted by the excellent Centre for Volunteering with the purpose being to celebrate the work of individuals and volunteer teams from a diverse range of organisations across New South Wales.
