Local Student is Honoured As Part of Peace Awards

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Many congratulations to Year 12 North Sydney Girl's High School student Laaiba Haque who was honoured in September with a highly commended certificate at the Dame Marie Bashir Peace Awards 2025. The Dame Marie Bashir Peace Awards were initiated in 2010 by the National Council of Women of NSW in Dame Marie's honour after her decades of public service, including as Governor of NSW and Chancellor at the University of Sydney. Each year, every secondary school in NSW is given the opportunity to nominate one girl from year groups 10-12 who has displayed leadership in fostering harmonious relationships and peace. I'm delighted for Laabia. For her principal to choose her for this honour is a huge accomplishment, and I hope she is very proud of this achievement. These awards are an excellent way to encourage potential future female leaders in NSW, and I applaud the National Council of Women of NSW for their continued work in nurturing the talents of young women in our state.
