Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore) (00:57:24):
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honour those affected, raise awareness and continue the vital conversation about early detection, treatment and support for people living with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women, with one in seven facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. While survival rates have improved significantly thanks to research and early screening, the need for education and accessible services remains critical. My North Shore community is fortunate to have local resources like BreastScreen NSW at the Royal North Shore Community Health Centre in St Leonards providing vital free mammogram services to eligible women. Early detection saves lives, and access to services like that makes a real difference in our community. My community of North Shore is proud to stand with survivors, families, carers and advocates who work tirelessly to support awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts and health initiatives in our community. I thank everyone taking part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 2025. Their continued advocacy brings us closer to a future free from breast cancer.
