Link-Up NSW 45th Anniversary

—I recognise Link-Up (NSW) Aboriginal Corporation for their vital service to the Stolen Generations and Aboriginal communities for 45 years which I joined them to celebrate. Link-Up NSW is a peak organisation founded by Oomera Edwards and Peter Read to support the healing journeys of Aboriginal people impacted by past government policies which resulted in institutional removal of children and forced adoptions, and disposition, separation and cultural severance. The intergenerational effects of the Stolen Generation continue today, and the work of Link-Up is vital in reuniting families, providing social and emotional support and walking alongside community to recover connection to country and culture. I acknowledge Chief Executive Officer Lynne Kinghan for her dedicated leadership to Link-Up NSW, as well as Chairperson Aunty Lizzie (Koorirose) May, a proud Wiradjuri woman, and Keynote Speaker Shannon Dodson, CEO of the Healing Foundation who is carrying on the work of the Aboriginal elder Professor Mick Dodson AM, author of the landmark Bringing Them Home Report. As Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, I commend Link-Up NSW's ongoing work for reconciliation, celebrated in Penrith on the traditional land of the Darug people.
