HMAS Sydney I – Sms Emden Engagement 111th Anniversary

—I recognise the 111th Anniversary Commemorative Memorial Service of the HMAS Sydney I – SMS Emden engagement, held on Sunday, 2 November 2025, at Bradleys Head Reserve, Mosman. This solemn event united veterans, Defence personnel, descendants, and community members in honouring the bravery and sacrifice of those who served in Australia's first naval victory of the First World War. The service paid tribute to the courage, skill, and resilience of the crew of HMAS Sydney I, whose actions on 9 November 1914 marked a defining moment in Australia's naval history. Their legacy continues to inspire pride and gratitude within our community and across the nation. This years' service was attended by Mosman Council Representatives, Rear Admiral Chris Smith AM CSM RAN, Commodore Paul Kable AM RAN (Retd), Lieutenant Commander Simone MacIntosh RAN, Mr Brian Yeo, Chaplain Graham Swan RAN, Mr Barry Brooks, and members of the TS Sydney Navy Cadets. This commemoration reinforces the enduring bond between Mosman and the Royal Australian Navy. I thank all organisers and participants for ensuring this occasion was conducted with dignity, reverence, and deep respect for those who serve our nation.
