North Sydney Garden Competition 2025

—The annual North Sydney Garden Competition doesn't just beautify our local community; the competition also supports social wellbeing, mental health and biodiversity, all whilst making our community greener. From pots to nature strips, and balconies, across eleven categories, the competition had residents, community groups and schools all participating to make North Sydney more beautiful. I acknowledge the award winners by category: Balcony Garden Mary Curran; Best Courtyard Garden Armando Wong; Most Beautiful Garden Frank Olivier; Best Edible Garden – Private William Martin; Lex and Ruby Graham Prize – Individual Edmond Yan; Lex and Ruby Graham Prize – Group Winslow Street, Kirribilli coordinated by Maria Scolaro; and Judge's Special Award Wondakiah Estate coordinated by Tim Hayward. I recognise the runners up by category: Balcony Garden Helen Constable; Best Courtyard Garden Elizabeth Jenkins Kaine; Best Indoor Garden Yael Higer; Best Children's Garden Gutherie Child Care Centre coordinated by Jaclyn Stewart; Lex and Ruby Graham Prize - Group Stewart Hodgson and Lex and Ruby Graham Prize - Individual Kareela Road Cremorne Point coordinated by Prasad Vemulapad. These gardens beautify our neighbourhoods and initiatives like this only enhance and create community spirit in ensuring we retain this status.
