Community Solidarity Following the Bondi Tragedy

—In light of the recent events in Bondi, I rise to acknowledge the profound impact of the Bondi terrorist attack on our community. I recognise Rabbi Mendel Slavin of Cremorne Synagogue, who is leading the North Shore Jewish community through this difficult period. Residents of the North Shore have come together to offer comfort, demonstrating solidarity following recent events. Flowers, notes, and letters of condolence have appeared outside Cremorne Synagogue, alongside numerous supportive emails for the Jewish community. Among those gestures was Pastor Alex from Neutral Bay Uniting Church, who personally laid flowers at the synagogue – a sign of friendship and unity between faith communities. Together, these acts of care have provided comfort and reassurance at a time of grief. As Rabbi Mendel has told his congregation, "Any act of goodness and kindness that adds light to the world – that has been the surest way to banish the darkness that we're experiencing." Those words have resonated well beyond his synagogue.
