Loreto Students Partner with Taronga for Conversation

—I recognise the innovative partnership between Loreto Kirribilli and Taronga Zoo, which is transforming how education is delivered by bringing learning beyond the classroom and into the real world. This first-of-its-kind collaboration with an independent school will see students from Kindergarten to Year 12 immersed in hands-on experiences at Taronga, while also engaging with zoo educators and scientists in their own classrooms. Under the leadership of Principal Nicole Archard and supported by Taronga's Director of Education Paul Maguire, the program aims to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with scientists, analyse real-world data, and explore critical issues such as animal behaviour, sustainability, and the environmental impact of human activity. Senior students will also undertake advanced research projects, further strengthening their skills in STEM and environmental science. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering ethical responsibility, curiosity, and leadership among young people. It is a forward-thinking initiative that not only enriches education but also equips students with the knowledge and values needed to address the environmental challenges of the future
