Middle Harbour Marine Rescue

—Over the recent summer volunteers from Middle Harbour Marine Rescue have responded to a record two-hundred and fifty-four missions, sixty-five more than the previous record. That figure alone speaks to both the growing activity on our harbour and the unwavering commitment of those who answer the call for help, often at all hours and in challenging conditions. Marine Rescue is run predominantly by volunteers, local men and women who give their time, skills and energy to protect others. They do so not for recognition, but out of a deep respect for the water and a strong sense of community responsibility. That culture is made safer because of the dedication of Middle Harbour Marine Rescue. Their professionalism, teamwork and quiet courage ensure that when boaters find themselves in difficulty, help is never far away. I acknowledge the incredible efforts of all the volunteers at Middle Harbour Marine Rescue led by the Unit Commander Ben Crowther. I thank all volunteers for their service and commitment. Your contribution makes a substantial difference to the safety of our harbour.
