Middle Harbour Marine Rescue Friends and Family Day

—I recognise the wonderful volunteers of Middle Harbour Marine Rescue, who recently welcomed friends, families and members of the community to their Open Day. The event was an opportunity to showcase the vital work undertaken by Marine Rescue volunteers and to give the community a glimpse into the dedication, training and teamwork required to keep our waterways safe. Whether assisting boaters in distress, coordinating search and rescue operations, or promoting safe boating practices, these volunteers give countless hours of their time in service to others. Incredibly over the 2025/2026 Marine Rescue boating season, volunteers at Middle Harbour conducted 3147 search and rescue missions, responded to 876 emergencies, and attended 75 mayday call outs. I also acknowledge Ben Crowther who was reappointed as the Unit Commander at their recent annual general meeting, Glen Lighton who was reappointed Deputy Unit Commander Administration Treasurer, and Steve Mitchell who was newly appointed as Deputy Unit Commander Operations. I extend my sincere thanks to every volunteer at Middle Harbour Marine Rescue. Their commitment, professionalism and selfless service help ensure that everyone can enjoy our beautiful harbour and waterways with greater confidence and safety.
