Loreto Kirribilli Student Qualifies for World Cup
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)
—I rise today to congratulate Loreto Kirribilli Year 11 student Annabelle on her outstanding achievement in qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup as goalkeeper for the Junior Matildas. Anyone who has followed Annabelle's journey will understand why this achievement is so well deserved. Playing against India, Lebanon, Japan and Vietnam, the Junior Matildas successfully secured Australia's place at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup to be held in Morocco this October. For the first time in Australian Under-17 history, the team has qualified for the tournament, where they will face Spain, Mexico and Chile in Group F. Annabelle's selection is recognition not only of her exceptional talent but also of the discipline, resilience, and commitment she has shown while balancing elite sport with her studies at Loreto Kirribilli. Her achievements have continued with selection in the Future Matildas Under-23 program, further reflecting the confidence Australia's football community has in her potential. Annabelle's success is a source of immense pride for her family, her teammates and the Loreto community. I congratulate Annabelle on these remarkable achievements and wish her every success as she represents Australia on the world stage.
