For over 20 years Alex Wilson has served as president of the North Sydney RSL Sub-Branch, and he recently handed the reins over to the next generation of local veterans. Alex's steady leadership, compassion and unwavering commitment have strengthened the important role that the North Sydney RSL Sub-Branch plays within our community. Year after year, Alex has led the organisation of Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services, bringing together veterans, families and school students to honour the courage and sacrifice of Australia's service men and women. Through the ceremonies, Alex helped preserve the traditions of remembrance and ensure that the stories of those who served continue to be passed on to future generations. Beyond those public events, Alex's contribution has extended to the everyday work of supporting local veterans, advocating on their behalf, fostering the strong sense of mateship and service that lies at the heart of the RSL movement, and doing significant fundraising. The time, energy and dedication that Alex has devoted to the North Sydney RSL Sub-Branch has left an enduring legacy. I have personally appreciated his friendship. On behalf of our community, I thank him for his service and wish him success in the years ahead.
