Gidget Foundation North Sydney

I recognise the amazing work of the Gidget Foundation in North Sydney, which provides essential and free support to parents dealing with perinatal depression and anxiety. Last week I joined the Gidget Foundation and Treasurer Matt Kean for the official reopening of the North Sydney location following its refurbishment. It was a lovely ceremony and I thank some of the many amazing people from the foundation for the event. I thank Arabella Gibson for hosting and emceeing the day. Her warmth, dedication and fiery determination in leading the foundation is truly inspiring.

I also recognise and thank Simone Short, who was also our 2021 North Shore Volunteer of the Year and a founding member of the organisation. A sister of Gidget herself, she spoke on the day and helped bring the wonderful organisation to fruition. I thank Melissa and Jami, who also delivered a beautiful welcome to country and shared touching personal stories about how the foundation helped them. Breaking the stigma on this issue is incredibly brave, and crucial for all of us. I extend my thanks to the entire team at the Gidget Foundation for everything they do, and I will always work to support the foundation.
