The Annual Gumnut Fair Back at Nutcote

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker, May Gibb's Nucote is a much-loved institution in my electorate of North Shore. Once the harbourside home of Australia's foremost children's author and illustrator, best known for her iconic story of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, and now a museum surrounded by beautiful cottage gardens visited and enjoyed by locals and the broader community. Nutcote was also honoured as the first site in NSW to receive a commemorative NSW Blue Plaque in recognition of the site's contribution to local heritage. This year the annual Gumnut Fair was back bigger than ever. The rain dampened the ground but not the spirit of all those involved. There was so much to savour with food stalls, sausage sizzle, Devonshire tea, plus face painting, craft and a range of fun activities for the young ones to enjoy. Entry to the fair was free, and a special May Gibbs raffle was also held as part of the fundraiser, with special prize packs of May Gibbs products up for grabs. Thank you to Manager Curator Megan Sadler and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make this a special day for everyone to enjoy.
