Beauty Point Public School Turkiye-Syria Earthquake Fundraiser

—I want to recognise the efforts of Beauty Point Public, who recently hosted a school mufti day to raise funds to support the recovery of Turkiye-Syria following the devastating earthquake that struck the area, killing over 56,000 people and affecting millions more. In particular, I acknowledge the Student Representative Council for their work in championing this fundraiser, the first of the year. The students wore mufti in the colours of red and white, symbolism of the Turkish Flag. All funds raised were donated to the Red Cross for the Turkiye-Syria Earthquake Appeal, which goes towards helping children and their families in small communities impacted by the earthquake disaster. I congratulate the school community, school principal, Marion Walsh-Gay, and the SRC for their efforts in coming together to support such an important cause and doing their part in helping those much less fortunate. I look forward to hearing about the fantastic initiatives the dedicated SRC group will develop throughout the year.
