A Shout-Out to the Lower North Shore Local Ladies Club

—I want to recognise and congratulate Amy Coleman, the Lower North Shore Ladies Club founder. Amy established the Lower North Shore Ladies Club in early 2021 in response to an appetite amongst local women to reconnect, celebrate and enrich their lives. The club now boasts 2000 members and holds regular events to bring members together for social connection and to provide information and support to women on various topics. I recently joined them for a round table forum on the importance of women's financial independence. We know that women aged 55 and over from all walks of life are Australia's fastest-growing cohort of homeless people. Women often leave the financial decisions in the hands of others, and the discussion centred around the importance of women having a sound financial plan to protect themselves against unexpected circumstances and understanding how to invest wisely. I want to thank Amy for hosting such a valuable discussion and Isha Miglani and Cassandra Gordon for their input. Thank you to all the ladies present for their openness and honesty in sharing their experiences.
