Daffodil Day 2023

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise the efforts of the Cancer Council NSW for the organisation of Daffodil Day on August 31st earlier this year. The Cancer Council has already raised over $1.5 million this year, and Daffodil Day has proven itself over the years to be a powerful fundraising event for cancer. I would like to thank everybody in our community who supported Daffodil Day through your generous donations. I give further thanks to all those who volunteered at stalls in our community, and who were involved generally in the organisation of the fundraiser. I was personally involved in fundraising for Daffodil Day, taking donations and selling daffodils outside North Sydney Station. I would also like to give special thanks to Lily Gubbay, our local ambassador for the Cancer Council NSW, for her advocacy and research concerning smoking and vaping amongst young people in the local community. I recently met with Lily, who shared her views on how reducing the risks of cancer might be best approached in our community.
