Wow Day: Acknowledging SES Workers

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker, Today I want to take the time to acknowledge the amazing work and dedication of the State Emergency Services volunteers in the north shore electorate. Thousands of events are being held across the country to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer their time. On May 22 we will recognise the tremendous work our volunteers do through Wear Orange Wednesday. National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to recognise the invaluable work of our nation's volunteers. This year's theme is 'Something for Everyone.' It represents the millions of volunteers who make a profound impact on our society, and when it comes to volunteering, there really is something for everyone. In the North Shore, our SES units and volunteer organisations simply wouldn't be feasible without the time and support they get from local residents. I'm always so proud to see so many volunteers in the north shore electorate, who lend themselves selflessly to support our local organisations. To all the volunteers in the north shore, I say a heartfelt thank you for all you do, and I look forward to joining and supporting you on your future endeavours.
