Mosman Local Nominated for Broadway Award

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker I want to congratulate north shore local Marina Tamayo, the Mosman-based flamenco artist who has been nominated for the prestigious Chita Rivera Awards for Dance and Choreography in New York. Marina was nominated alongside choreographer Benjamin Millepied in the category 'Outstanding Choreography in Theatrical Release' for their work in the film Carmen. Marina played main character Carmen's mother and had a dancing role in the film. She also collaborated on the outstanding choreography. The awards took place at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts in late May, with Jennifer White for Barbie being announced the winner. Although Marina Tamayo didn't win, her achievement in being nominated is truly incredible. It's so inspiring to see a local Mosman artist's name recognised in Hollywood at such a prestigious event. Congratulations Marina on your well-deserved nomination, as well as on your role in creating such a cinematic one-of-a-kind film.
