Mosman Art Prize 2024

Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore)

—Speaker For more than seventy years, the Mosman Art Prize has been coveted by talented and aspiring artists and this year has been no different. I want to congratulate this year's winner, Gemma Smith, for her inspired abstract piece Pollen Prism, which will now become a valuable addition to the prestigious Mosman Art Collection. The Mosman Art Collection is an impressive archive of Australian painting since 1947, forming a time capsule of our country's artistic culture and talent over the years. I want to congratulate all finalists selected for the exhibition, in particular Khaled Sabsabi, winner of the Margaret Olley Commendation Award, Nick Santoro, winner of the Alan Gamble Award, and Jacquie Meng, winner of the Guy Warren Emerging Artist Award. I congratulate Gemma on a well-deserved prize, and I recognise the complexity and emotional sophistication of her piece. I want to acknowledge the time and effort that is poured into this competition each year, from judges, gallery staff and all the finalists, whose works are truly amazing. Congratulations to all involved and I look forward to the incredible art that next year will bring.
