Sydney by Kayak
Ms FELICITY WILSON (North Shore) (19:23:04):
There are many ways to enjoy the absolute beauty that is Sydney Harbour, but one of the most unique and special ways to do so is by kayak. It is only fitting then that the team at Sydney By Kayak has taken home two gold medals at the recent NSW Tourism Awards 2023, highlighting not only what an incredible business it is but all its efforts in protecting our local environment. Laura and Ben, who run and operate Sydney By Kayak, are all about conservation, sustainability and protecting our spectacular but fragile marine ecosystem. On the night, the team took home gold in the ecotourism category and gold in the Take 3 For the Sea Award for Visitor Litter Prevention. This is in recognition of their many local achievements, such as personally planting nearly 200 mangroves so far—with a further 5,000 planned—collectively removing 5,489 kilograms of rubbish from Sydney Harbour and so much more. My own team recently joined Laura and her team on a sunrise tour from Lavender Bay out onto the harbour and it was spectacular. I congratulate Laura, Ben and the whole team on their achievements. I look forward to seeing some of their next projects in action.
